Description
We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead accounting process improvement initiatives and support the implementation of a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. This individual contributor role is responsible for evaluating and enhancing accounting processes across the full accounting cycle while partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure successful ERP implementation and adoption.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with a passion for process improvement, systems, and operational excellence. This role will play a key part in modernizing accounting operations by standardizing workflows, strengthening internal controls, and supporting automation initiatives.
Responsibilities
Accounting Process Improvement
- Evaluate and document current accounting processes across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial close activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, strengthen controls, and standardize accounting workflows.
- Design and implement scalable accounting processes that support operational efficiency and financial accuracy.
- Assist in improving the monthly close process through standardized procedures, reconciliation templates, and defined ownership.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures, and internal control documentation.
- Support audit readiness by maintaining organized documentation and strengthening accounting controls.
- Partner with accounting staff to implement process improvements and support day-to-day accounting operations as needed.
ERP Implementation & Financial Systems
- Serve as a key finance representative during ERP implementation activities, partnering with internal stakeholders and external implementation teams.
- Translate business and accounting requirements into system design and configuration recommendations.
- Support chart of accounts design, financial reporting structures, approval workflows, and system configuration.
- Participate in data cleansing, validation, mapping, and migration activities.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing, issue resolution, and process validation.
- Develop training materials, facilitate end-user training, and support post-implementation stabilization and continuous system improvement.
Success Measures
Within the first 12 to 18 months, success in this role may include:
- Streamlined and standardized accounting processes with reduced manual effort and improved internal controls.
- A more efficient and consistent financial close process.
- Improved audit readiness through enhanced documentation and standardized procedures.
- Successful implementation and adoption of a new ERP system, including validated data migration, tested business processes, and user training.
Qualifications
Required
- Active CPA license.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Six or more years of progressive accounting experience with responsibility for full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, reconciliations, financial close, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience improving accounting processes and implementing operational efficiencies.
- Experience supporting ERP implementations or major finance system projects, including requirements gathering, testing, data migration, or user training.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control principles.
Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or another enterprise ERP platform.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Experience working in complex, regulated, or multi-entity organizations.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies, process mapping, or continuous improvement practices.
