Electrical Engineering Technician V

Impact Summary:

As an Electrical Engineering Technician V, you will provide senior-level technical and planning support for complex avionics, wiring harness, wiring assembly, and aircraft installation efforts. You will coordinate Electrical Wiring Shop schedules, travelers, parts, workload, fabrication, and installation activities to help ensure work is completed accurately, on time, and within budget. Your technical judgment and leadership will directly support repeatable electrical designs, efficient shop operations, airworthiness, and successful aircraft integration.

Responsibilities:

• Create, maintain, and update project schedules, job travelers, and related planning records for electrical wiring fabrication and aircraft installation activities.
• Assign and prioritize work to balance shop capacity across prototype and production builds and prevent avoidable scheduling conflicts.
• Track parts, materials, routing, approvals, fabrication status, and installation progress from the bench through final aircraft integration using APSD AMODS, the Traveler process, and other required internal processes
• Coordinate full-cycle aircraft wiring installation activities; monitor schedule, budget, material, tooling, and workload constraints; and promptly notify APSD management of potential conflicts.
• Analyze component drawings, wiring diagrams, aircraft publications, and other design data to prepare technical assessments and design artifacts within programmatic, airworthiness, and functional constraints.
• Use engineering tools to develop design concepts; collaborate with drafters, engineers, project leads, and shop personnel; and define tooling needed to fabricate and install electrical designs.
• Support quality inspection and configuration management requirements in accordance with APSD processes, NAVAIR 505, SAE AS50881, and established procedures.
• Lead complex technical tasks with little to no guidance, mentor junior team members, coordinate team efforts, and participate in planning and estimating meetings.

• Electrical Systems Expertise: Applies advanced knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, avionics, wiring harnesses, wiring assemblies, and associated mechanical components.
• Planning, Scheduling & Workload Coordination: Develops schedules, manages competing priorities, balances shop capacity, and identifies conflicts early.
• Aircraft Harness Fabrication & Installation: Demonstrates expert knowledge of harness fabrication and full-cycle aircraft installation, including material, tooling, routing, inspection, and integration requirements.
• Technical Analysis & Design Integration: Interprets complex design data, develops sound technical assessments and concepts, and integrates multidisciplinary input.
• Quality & Process Compliance: Applies APSD processes, Traveler and configuration controls, quality inspection practices, NAVAIR 505, and SAE AS50881 requirements.
• Leadership, Communication & Judgment: Works independently, directs and mentors team members, coordinates cross-functional work, communicates risks, and recommends practical solutions.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent plus successful completion of trade or technical school, undergraduate coursework, or military school coursework in drafting, mechanical drawing, or engineering drawing.
• A minimum of 15 years of experience performing the stated functions.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and expertise in avionics, aircraft harness fabrication, full-cycle aircraft installation, and applicable quality inspection processes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, travelers, workload assignments, priorities, fabrication tracking, and installation tracking.
• Working knowledge of APSD AMODS, the APSD Traveler process, internal processes, NAVAIR 505, and SAE AS50881.
• Ability to interpret component drawings, wiring diagrams, aircraft publications, and design data and use engineering tools to develop or evaluate design concepts.
• Strong leadership, communication, coordination, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.
• Must have an active US SECRET Security Clearance.

Travel:

Travel may be required up to 10%.

Salary Information: 

The estimated starting hourly rate for this position between is $70 - $74 per hour however, the successful candidates starting pay will be based on, but not limited to, their experience, qualifications, skill set, work location, and market conditions. Pay and Benefits are subject to change at any time and may be modified at the discretion of the company.
