Western National Insurance is seeking a Personal Lines Underwriting Intern to join its Personal Lines Underwriting team as part of the Summer 2027 Internship Program. Our company growth, combined with our focus on innovation, transformation, and investments in the customer experience are key drivers supporting the expansion of our team. Western National Intern Program Summary:

Western National provides a robust internship program designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry. This program not only offers practical, hands-on opportunities and project work in partnership with our Personal Lines Underwriting team; but interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through a range of professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.

Position Summary:

As a Personal Lines Underwriting intern in our Internship Program, you will be a key contributor to our Personal Lines team. Possible tasks that you assist with include:

• Helping maintain accurate rating and coverage on Personal Lines policies
• Partnering with underwriting and other departments to modify renewal business as needed
• Assessing replacement cost value for property business
• Reviewing property inspections and recommending appropriate actions
• Update policy information as new details emerge
• Communication with agency force regarding changes or requests for information

Requirements

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Completed two years of college preferred
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail
• Ability to follow established processes and procedures
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Intermediate experience with Word and Excel required
• Ability to work onsite at our corporate office in Edina, MN

Compensation Overview:

The base pay offered for this position will be $20.00/hour.
