Corporate Risk Management provides an integrated risk management strategy that supports predictable financial and operational performance and successful client and shareholder outcomes. As Schwab’s second line of defense, the organization independently assesses risk using models, controls, and systems that measure financial, operational, compliance, and legal risks to the firm, its employees, and its customers.

 

We are seeking a hands-on Full Stack Software Engineer to design, build, and support scalable risk management applications and data solutions. In this individual contributor role, you will work across front-end, back-end, cloud, data, and DevOps disciplines and partner with software engineers, architects, quantitative modelers, and business stakeholders. Your work will support real-time services, web applications, analytics, and critical business capabilities.

 

Please note: This position is M-F during standard business hours with a hybrid work model (4 days in-office, 1 day working from home). It is only available in the areas listed. Candidates must reside or be willing to relocate on their own to one of the listed areas.

 

What you’ll do:

• Design, build, and enhance scalable .NET applications, web services, APIs, and responsive web interfaces in a cloud environment.

• Implement business logic and technical solutions that support risk management processes, models, and operational workflows.

• Build, optimize, and support data pipelines, data integrations, and complex queries using BigQuery, SQL, Oracle, or comparable technologies.

• Develop front-end solutions using JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks and libraries such as Angular, along with HTML and CSS.

• Deploy and manage cloud-native applications and services on Google Cloud Platform, including services such as Cloud Run and Cloud Functions.

• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, infrastructure and deployment processes, and cloud resource management practices.

• Write clean, secure, maintainable code; debug applications; review pull requests; and contribute to solution design and technical documentation.

• Identify and remediate code quality issues, vulnerabilities, code smells, and application security findings.

• Organize and automate release and configuration management activities to improve delivery reliability and repeatability.

• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable corrective actions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, integrate, and deliver high-quality features and platform enhancements.

• Contribute within an Agile-Scrum team, manage multiple deliverables, drive process improvements, and continuously evaluate relevant technologies.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree in a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.

• 3+ years of hands-on software development experience using C# and .NET.

• Experience designing and developing web services, APIs, and cloud-based applications.

• Working knowledge of front-end development using JavaScript or TypeScript, Angular or a comparable framework, HTML, and CSS.

• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases and data engineering concepts.

• Experience with unit and integration testing, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD technologies.

• Understanding of secure software development, code quality controls, and vulnerability remediation.

• Experience working in an Agile-Scrum environment and collaborating across engineering, quantitative, architecture, and business teams.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, document solutions and operating procedures, and drive work to completion.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of brokerage, margin risk, financial crime, or other regulated financial-services business processes and requirements.

• Experience with Veracode, SonarQube, or similar code quality and security assessment tools.

• Experience with automated release management, configuration management, and infrastructure automation.

• Experience with GCP, AWS, Azure, hybrid-cloud architectures, BI tools, or big-data platforms.
