Physician - Cardiac Anesthesiologist

The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Anesthesiology, is seeking a Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join our growing, nationally recognized cardiovascular team. This position offers the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity, tertiary care environment alongside a collaborative team of anesthesiologists, surgeons, intensivists, residents, fellows, and CRNAs dedicated to exceptional patient care, education, and innovation.

The successful candidate will provide anesthesia care for a broad spectrum of adult cardiac surgical procedures and advanced cardiovascular interventions while contributing to the department's clinical, educational, and academic missions.

Position Highlights

• Join a premier academic cardiovascular program offering the full continuum of cardiac surgical and interventional care
• Clinical practice includes adult cardiac anesthesia, structural heart procedures, electrophysiology, mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, ventricular assist devices (LVADs), heart transplantation, and lung transplantation
• Opportunity to utilize advanced perioperative echocardiography in a high-acuity tertiary and quaternary care setting
• Academic appointment available with opportunities for teaching, mentorship, research, and leadership development
• Shared cardiac call schedule designed to support collaboration and physician well-being

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency
• Completion of a Cardiac Anesthesiology Fellowship
• ABA-certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology
• Eligible for medical licensure in Kansas and Missouri
• Certification in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (or eligibility to obtain certification) preferred
