Senior Underwriter, Specialty Lines

How you will create an impact:
•    Underwriting and managing an existing book of Marine Reinsurance risks and developing and underwriting a pipeline of new business opportunities across LAC
•    Managing a team of underwriting professionals
•    Collaborating with peers in other regions and providing technical underwriting support on existing accounts in those regions, ensuring a consistent approach to market throughout the region.
•    Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients
•    Communicating our value proposition with our brokers and clients and demonstrating our right to win
•    Identifying future industry trends, understand how they will impact ours our client’s business and developing new strategies around those trends
•    Communicating to internal stakeholders on the profitable of the portfolio
•    Providing superior customer service to brokers and clients.
•    Attend client/broker meetings, presentations and relevant industry events on behalf of the company.
•    Participating in special underwriting projects as needed.
What you will need to succeed:
•    Experience in the marine insurance or Reinsurance market
•    Advanced working knowledge of Marine business including product features, forms, regulatory environments and risks etc.
•    Ability to rapidly evaluate, prioritize and select submissions to be underwritten.
•    Ability to analyze policy wordings
•    Demonstrated knowledge of current market conditions, trends and the ability to leverage that knowledge to give us right to win
•    Relationships with tier 1 and 2 brokers and the ability to develop new relationships
•    Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment making quick decisions while adhering to sound underwriting discipline
•    Willingness to travel 40% of the time
