DESCRIPTION
Due to expansion, we have an excellent opportunity for an Accountant I to join our Protein Diagnostics (PDX) Division’s Finance Team based in Birmingham and contribute to the success of our expanding Finance Department. This role is Hybrid - 3 days in the Birmingham office and 2 days remote.
As an Accountant I specializing in cash and banking operations, you'll manage treasury functions, cash forecasting, and bank account reconciliations while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a global environment. Based in Birmingham, you'll support the Protein Diagnostics (PDX) division, playing a critical role in optimizing cash management processes, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations, and supporting the company's continued growth and success through accurate financial management and reporting.
REQUIREMENTS
2-3 years of experience in cash management, treasury, or banking operations
Strong knowledge of VAT rules and regulations across multiple jurisdictions
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience with cash forecasting, liquidity management, and banking relationships
Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA) is advantageous
Strong understanding of accounting principles, month-end close processes, and financial controls
Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with high attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Experience with bank account reconciliations and cash-related journal entry preparation
Knowledge of internal control frameworks related to cash handling
Strong organizational skills with ability to meet strict deadlines
Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
Experience with treasury management systems and financial reporting tools (BlackLine) advantageous
Understanding of foreign exchange and multi-currency transactions
System automation and process improvement mindset
Customer-focused approach with ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
Ability to adapt to new technologies and processes
Demonstrated commitment to integrity and professional ethics
