About the role
As a HR Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day activities of our People Team, acting as a first point of contact for colleagues and managers across the business. You'll help deliver a seamless employee experience by supporting a wide range of people processes, ensuring our HR operations run efficiently while providing a professional, responsive, and people-focused service.

This is a full-time, fixed-term role working 37.5 hours per week for a period of 9-12 months to provide maternity cover. The position is based at our Sheffield Distribution Centre in Chapeltown (S35) and you will receive a salary of up-to £27,000.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the smooth delivery of the colleague lifecycle, including onboarding, employee changes, absence management, employee relations activities, and leaver processes.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records within our HR system, ensuring all colleague documentation, right-to-work checks, and compliance requirements are completed to a high standard.
- Providing guidance and administrative support throughout employee relations processes, including disciplinary and grievance cases, investigations, hearing preparation, note-taking, and outcome communications.
- Helping to deliver clear and engaging colleague communications by maintaining notice boards, communication hubs, and key people-related updates across the site.
- Building positive relationships with managers and colleagues, providing responsive and professional support on a range of people-related matters.
- Handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion whilst ensuring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Providing proactive administrative support to the wider People Team and contributing to initiatives that enhance the overall colleague experience.
What we need from you
- A highly organised individual who enjoys supporting others and keeping things running smoothly
- Previous experience within an HR administrative or support role is desirable
- Good understanding of employment law
- A professional and trustworthy approach when handling sensitive and confidential information
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing accurate, high-quality work
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and genuine passion for delivering a great colleague experience
