IT Support Technician
A leading project management and infrastructure consulting company is seeking a a proactive and technically skilled IT Support Technician professional to join their team in Stellenbosch. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing first-line IT support, maintaining the company's IT infrastructure and assets, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of hardware, software, and network services across multiple branches. Responsibilities: First-Line IT Support • Provide first-line technical support to internal users via phone, email, remote support, and in person. • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, printer, network, and peripheral issues. • Escalate complex technical issues to the outsourced IT support provider where appropriate. • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, software, and related IT equipment. • Set up and manage user accounts, permissions, and access within Active Directory and Microsoft 365. Systems & Infrastructure Support • Monitor and maintain IT systems and network performance to ensure reliability and uptime. • Support Microsoft 365 services, remote access solutions, and video conferencing platforms. • Assist with system upgrades, deployments, and other IT-related projects. • Monitor server storage capacity and perform housekeeping where required. IT Asset Management • Maintain an accurate inventory of company IT assets and equipment. • Assess hardware requirements and proactively recommend replacements or upgrades. • Coordinate quotations and procurement for new hardware and equipment. • Prepare, configure, and deploy new devices for users. User Support & Administration • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding, including workstation setup, account creation, and
equipment recovery. • Maintain accurate support documentation, ticket records, and asset registers. • Ensure users receive timely and professional support while maintaining excellent customer service standards. General IT Support • Support desktop PCs, laptops, printers, scanners, telephony, networking equipment, and other peripherals. • Assist with LAN connectivity and basic infrastructure troubleshooting. • Perform general IT administration and ad hoc technical support as required Requirements: • Previous experience in an IT Support Technician, Helpdesk, or Desktop Support role. • Relevant IT qualification or certification (CompTIA A+, N+, Microsoft, or similar) will be advantageous. • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365. • Basic knowledge of Active Directory, networking, and hardware troubleshooting. • Experience supporting printers, desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices. Skills: • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. • Excellent customer service and communication skills. • Strong organisational and time management skills. • High attention to detail and accuracy. • Ability to prioritise multiple support requests effectively.
