Description
Position Summary
The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for loading and unloading trailers, processing shipment orders, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean and safe shipping environment. This role supports overall plant operations by coordinating the flow of materials and finished products, in alignment with safety and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort, package, and load finished products onto flatbed trucks, ensuring products are free from damage and loaded according to safety protocols.
- Prepare shipments by pulling, assembling, palletizing, stretch-wrapping, packaging, and labeling materials.
- Verify all incoming and outgoing shipments by inspecting and counting/measuring to confirm accuracy and timely delivery.
- Place inventory in designated storage locations and maintain an organized stock area.
- Deliver materials (e.g., starter pipe, supplies) to various plant areas as needed.
- Bundle and move pipe to appropriate yard storage areas.
- Safely operate forklifts and cranes in accordance with company safety policies.
- Participate in periodic inventory counts within the shipping department.
- Support and participate in LEAN and 5S initiatives.
- Actively engage in Health & Safety training and promote a safe working environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Communication Requirements
Internal:
- Plant Supervisors, Crew Leaders, and Operational Support Teams – coordinate, clarify, and exchange shipment-related information.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Previous forklift and/or heavy machinery experience.
- Must be able to positively adapt to changes in shipping/receiving schedules, including occasional unscheduled overtime. Must also be willing to work modified shifts, as required by business volumes
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong mechanical aptitude; proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
- Previous experience in 5-S and Lean Manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, prioritizing work, and exercising initiative to ensure an efficient and quality level of service.

Physical Requirements
- Walk, sit, stand, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
- Use hands for repetitive motions, equipment handling, and keyboarding.
- Visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color distinction, and focus adjustment.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Work in moderate to high noise environments and varying indoor/outdoor conditions including heat, cold, humidity, dust, fumes, vibration, and moving machinery.
- Required to wear appropriate PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, reflective clothing, and safety boots.
