Overview
We are looking for an SVP/VP of Business Development with a deep understanding of the North American telecommunications industry, and a track record of success in value creation for clients through technology innovation. This role will have a particular focus on driving growth opportunities in the rapidly evolving space-based communications market.
As an SVP of Business Development, you will play a pivotal role in developing our Telecommunications business by identifying potential clients and sales opportunities, building trusted client relationships and developing strategies to convert opportunities into successful outcomes. The role entails key client management and contract negotiations leading to successful sales and outcomes for our clients. You will be encouraged to seek new business opportunities through industry contacts.
In this role, you will carve out and have responsibility for building a substantial business, delivering significant value to clients in the Telecommunication market as it expands to multiple-planes beyond terrestrial networks with high altitude platforms and space-based infrastructure. This is an entrepreneurial role which requires a passion for growing our North American client base through value creation and the development of innovative, disruptive technologies that deliver substantial business impact.

Your understanding of such technologies and your commercial business experience will enable you to be trusted by clients and internal teams to guide the creation of valuable propositions and to close deals.
What you'll be doing:
- Building strong and trusting relationships with senior executives in client and potential client companies within the Telecommunications industry.
- Developing value propositions for our clients, through breakthrough innovation.
- Owning commercial responsibility for the delivery of successful projects to our clients, working closely with a world-class engineering team.
- Raising awareness of the value of the professional services that Cambridge Consultants (CC) can deliver in the Telecommunications space.
- Informing our strategy and internal investments by identifying and engaging with prospects and actively utilising market information to guide our technical team.
- Representing CC at local events, conferences and meet-ups and participating in speaking engagements – being the ‘face of CC’ in your region.
What you need to succeed:
- Ability to develop business in the Telecommunications domain working alongside other business development, project management and technical staff.
- Proven track record of complex, high-value, technical sales / business development.
- Existing senior relationships within the space and telecommunications markets, with the ability to personally close sales.
- Experience of consultative business development, and taking business through the full account lifecycle from acquisition through project fulfilment to scaling.
- Market knowledge of technologies relevant to the future of communication networks including non-terrestrial networks, high altitude platforms, AI, 5G, 6G, and concepts such as virtualisation, AI-RAN, massive MIMO as well as custom radio solutions.
- Ability to communicate at C-Suite level, at conferences and to lead client interactions
- A degree in an appropriate technical domain
- Located on either coast, preferably Boston, but open to positions in the San Francisco Bay area, or greater LA area.
