Role: Senior Program Manager, Product Technology
Team: Product Technology

Scope: Individual Contributor, P4

Years of Experience: 8+

Location: Ventura, CA (Hybrid)

Overview:

Patagonia is in business to save our home planet, and Product is central to how we bring that mission to life. The Product Technology team enables the people, processes, and tools that help Patagonia create industry-leading products known for performance, quality, durability, and responsibility. We are looking for a Program Manager to help advance this work by leading meaningful cross-functional programs, strengthening portfolio execution and visibility, and creating the alignment, structure, and focus teams need to deliver outcomes that matter.

In this role, you will report to the Senior Director of Product Technology and guide mid- to large-scale initiatives that support key departmental and company priorities. You will work with a cross-functional group of product teammates, multiple technology functions and domains, and business partners across Innovation, Design, DPC, Materials, Line Management, Marketing, Planning, Footprint, Creative, and others. You will help teams navigate complexity, clarify decisions, identify and resolve risks, improve ways of working, and connect day-to-day execution to Patagonia’s broader mission. We seek candidates who are energized by purposeful technology, collaborative problem solving, thoughtful program leadership, and the opportunity to shape the future of product creation at Patagonia.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead multiple high-impact programs and/or projects that align to business goals, KPIs, and expected outcomes, while supporting development of integrated roadmaps and governance artifacts that help teams plan, execute, and measure progress.

  • Drive program execution through established and evolving delivery frameworks, ensuring cross-team commitment, clear handoffs, dependency resolution, and acceptance of key deliverables.

  • Facilitate and continuously improve recurring portfolio reviews that assess project health, surface risks and dependencies, and keep teammates and stakeholders aligned on status, decisions, and next steps.

  • Guide teams through change, ambiguity, and conflict by helping clarify issues, resolve tradeoffs, and develop mitigation plans that support execution across teams.

  • Lead the development and execution of program and portfolio communications and performance reporting for stakeholder audiences, ensuring clarity and buy-in on key decisions and next steps.

  • Establish scalable program management standards, reusable playbooks, practices, and retrospectives that strengthen consistency across teams and help others apply effective project and program management methods.

  • Partner with cross-functional team members, managers, and key decision-makers to align scope, priorities, and department-level KPIs.

  • Facilitate the annual planning process for team initiatives, including intake, scoping, prioritization, business case development, and submission.

  • As an individual contributor, conduct your work in alignment with Patagonia’s Leadership Expectations - Leading Self principles: Build People + Teams, Drive Results, Demonstrate Good Judgement, and Champions Vision + Purpose.

Who You Are:

  • Organized: Uses structured planning, prioritization, documentation, reporting, task management, and communication practices to support project execution, visibility, and timely delivery.

  • Collaborative: Builds strong, service-oriented partnerships across teams and levels by leading with empathy, embracing clarity, aligning partners on next steps, and keeping cross-functional work moving.

  • Curious: Seeks to understand new things, asks thoughtful questions, and looks for practical and creative ways to solve problems.

  • Influential: Drives alignment on complex, cross-functional decisions by applying business and technical insight, reframing challenges, and guiding strategy across teams and priorities.

  • Team-Oriented: Embraces shared ownership, stays flexible and nimble as priorities evolve, and is willing to wear multiple hats or support varied work as needed to achieve the outcome.

  • Product-Minded: Appreciates the craft, quality, and responsibility behind Patagonia products while bringing a strong bias toward the people who create them and a genuine care for how teams, decisions, and outcomes support product creation.

  • Passionate: Champions Patagonia’s mission to save our home planet and integrates this passion into all aspects of work.

Experience You Bring:

  • 8+ years of project and/or program design and management experience, including leading multiple high-impact projects or programs and executing integrated roadmaps and governance artifacts.

  • Demonstrated experience planning and delivering against complex and cross-functional projects and/or programs utilizing established methodologies and techniques, including forced-rank prioritization, resource planning, and timeline alignment to meet delivery goals.

  • Experience developing and enforcing program and portfolio management standards, metrics, and reusable, scalable practices across teams.

  • Proven ability to lead scaled risk assessments across teams, anticipate interdependencies, and develop and implement comprehensive mitigation plans.

  • Strong communication and change-management skills, including guiding stakeholder alignment and reporting for leadership audiences.

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office applications and project/program management software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Azure DevOps, JIRA, ClickUp, FigJam).

  • Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or similar platforms to generate and analyze content, improve decision support, and streamline day-to-day workflows.

  • Hands-on working experience in digital workspace platforms and knowledge/record management tools including Confluence and SharePoint.

  • Prior experience working in a consumer product/retail brand environment, preferably with product creation and/or product creation systems/tools experience.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
