Systems Integration & Lab Infrastructure Engineer

Opportunity

PeopleTec is seeking a Systems Integration & Lab Infrastructure Engineer to support PAE Maneuver Air. This engineer will help establish and operate an avionics integration and rapid prototyping laboratory, from network and workstation design through hardware integration, verification, and customer demonstrations. The successful candidate will be comfortable building a lab from the ground up: translating requirements into an architecture, selecting equipment, configuring secure systems, connecting hardware and software, and resolving problems at the bench.

 

Responsibilities:

• Translate laboratory and integration requirements into network, computing, and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) designs.

• Configure and maintain switches, servers, workstations, and virtual environments, including secure Linux and Windows baseline images.

• Implement and document applicable cybersecurity controls and support system accreditation activities.

• Evaluate technical options and develop bills of materials for lab hardware, software, test equipment, and prototyping tools.

• Establish configuration baselines and document the lab’s readiness for integration events and customer demonstrations.

• Develop and execute interface integration procedures, network checkouts, and system verification tests for avionics components under development.

• Investigate hardware and software discrepancies, identify root causes, document risks, and track fixes.

• Develop scripts and software tools that automate configuration, interface testing, data collection, or verification.

• Present technical status, findings, and recommendations to government customers and other stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

• At least 8-12+ years of relevant experience.

• Hands-on experience designing, configuring, and maintaining local networks, switches, servers, and lab or test environments.

• Experience administering and patching Linux and Windows systems in a security-conscious environment.

• Experience developing verification plans or procedures, executing tests, and documenting hardware/software interface issues.

• Ability to write scripts or software for automation or testing, using languages such as Python, Bash, or C/C++.

• Experience implementing and documenting cybersecurity controls applicable to DoD systems.

• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

• U.S. citizenship.

• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience supporting the Risk Management Framework (RMF), applying DISA STIGs, or working with other security requirements applicable to the lab environment.

• A current cybersecurity certification appropriate to the assigned DoD cyber work role, such as Security+ CE or CySA+.

• Familiarity with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles.

• Experience with DevSecOps practices and tools, including Git.

• Exposure to avionics, tactical radios, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, or other system interfaces.

• Experience with lab fabrication, wiring harnesses, or rapid prototyping equipment, including 3D printers.

 

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related technical field (additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
