The Advocates is a personal injury firm serving clients across the western and midwestern United States, with roughly 350 team members in about 20 offices. Our attorneys and legal staff support people during some of the hardest moments of their lives, and the technology behind that work genuinely matters. We're creating a small, capable technology team to make the day-to-day easier for everyone in the firm. 

About the Role 

We're looking for two curious, hands-on problem solvers to join our IT & Analytics team as Systems & Integration Engineers, on a REMOTE basis. Must be available during standard Pacific or Mountain time business hours.

Our firm runs on a connected set of cloud platforms covering case management (Filevine), intake, communications, identity and productivity, reporting, and workflow automation. Keeping those systems talking to each other cleanly is what makes everything else possible — and that's where you come in. 

You'll help build the connections between our platforms, automate the manual work that slows people down, improve the quality of the data behind our reporting, and support the rollout of new tools across the organization. You'll partner closely with our Director of IT & Analytics, who sets direction and priorities, and you'll own bringing the solutions to life. 

What You Will Do

• Build and maintain integrations between our cloud platforms using low-code and no-code automation tools alongside direct API work
• Write and maintain scripts that take care of routine processes — things like account setup, access changes, and recurring reports
• Support the data pipelines behind our reporting: build them, keep an eye on them, troubleshoot when something looks off, and help trace issues back to where they started
• Help roll out new software across the organization, from configuration and testing through documentation and handoff to our support team
• Support security and compliance initiatives, putting agreed-upon safeguards in place and helping gather the documentation that goes with them
• Document your work clearly, so a colleague can pick it up and run with it

Requirements 

• Roughly one to three years of hands-on experience building things — software development, systems integration, IT automation, data work, or comparable project experience. Internship, bootcamp, and self-taught paths are all welcome.
• Comfort writing code in at least one language, and reading it in a few others
• Some experience working with APIs, and a healthy respect for the things that tend to go wrong with them
• Working knowledge of SQL, plus the curiosity to dig in when two reports disagree on the same number
• A knack for seeing how systems connect and anticipating what happens to dependent platforms when one system changes.
• Ability to write clearly and familiarity with IT documentation / wiki management. 

Preferred Skills 

• A degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience. We care far more about what you've built than where you built it.
• Experience with workflow automation or integration platform
• Familiarity administering a cloud identity and productivity suite (Microsoft 365 or similar)
• Exposure to a business intelligence or reporting tool
• A background in legal, healthcare, insurance, or another document-heavy industry
• An interest in security and compliance work

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $90,000-100,000 / year
