The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Senior Graphic Designer plays a key role in bringing the organization's brand vision to life through compelling visual storytelling and creative excellence. Reporting to the Creative Services Associate Director, this position advances the conceptual development and execution of integrated creative projects that support WWP's mission, programs, fundraising efforts, and organizational priorities. The Senior Graphic Designer helps ensure brand consistency and high-quality design standards across all channels by translating strategic objectives into engaging visual solutions. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional stakeholders, designers, and agency partners to create audience-centered experiences while serving as a senior-level design resource for the Creative Services team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with the Creative Servies Associate Director to develop and execute compelling visual concepts and creative solutions that support WWP Programs, Resource Development, marketing initiatives, and organizational priorities.
Translate strategic objectives, campaign goals, and audience insights into engaging visual storytelling that drives awareness, engagement, participation, retention, and support among warriors, families, donors, and advocates.
Lead the design execution and visual development of assigned campaigns under established creative direction.
Ensure consistent application of WWP brand standards, visual identity guidelines, and creative best practices across all creative assets and communication channels.
Collaborate with copywriters, designers, marketers, photographers, videographers, and agency partners to create high-quality, audience-centered creative experiences.
Provide creative input, visual recommendations, and brand guidance for photo shoots, video productions, illustrations, and multimedia projects to support engaging, consistent storytelling.
Present creative concepts, design rationale, and visual recommendations to the Creative Services Associate Director and stakeholders while incorporating feedback to strengthen final deliverables.
Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to develop creative solutions that support fundraising, programmatic, advocacy, and enterprise marketing initiatives.
Identify opportunities to strengthen visual storytelling, creative quality, and brand consistency while supporting the ongoing evolution of WWP's brand and visual identity.
Apply audience insights, performance data, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to inform creative decisions and optimize campaign effectiveness.
Support the development of branded materials, environmental graphics, internal communications, teammate merchandise, and licensing initiatives while maintaining visual consistency and quality standards.
Maintain and contribute to creative templates, design systems, asset libraries, and production standards.
Manage multiple concurrent creative projects, prioritizing assignments and coordinating timelines to deliver high-quality work on schedule and within established scope.
Partner with leaders in the Marketing & Communications Operations teams to improve workflows, creative processes, asset management practices, and AI-enabled creative solutions.
Attend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Extensive experience in art direction, graphic design, visual communications, brand design, or related creative disciplines.
Ability to apply conceptual thinking, visual storytelling, campaign development, and design principles across multiple channels.
Proven success developing and executing integrated multichannel marketing campaigns.
Strong understanding of branding, typography, layout, user experience principles, photography, video, and visual communication strategies.
Demonstrated ability to translate strategic business objectives into compelling creative concepts and visual solutions.
Excellent presentation, storytelling, and communication skills.
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build effective relationships across creative teams and stakeholder groups.
Ability to receive, interpret, and incorporate creative direction and feedback to strengthen concepts and final deliverables.
Advanced expertise in branding, design systems, digital design, print production, environmental graphics, and creative concept development.
Strong project management, organization, and prioritization skills.
Ability to balance conceptual thinking with hands-on design execution and problem-solving.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality creative work.
Self-starter with strong initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects.
Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and related creative tools.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and collaboration platforms.

EXPERIENCE
Requirements
Five years of experience as a graphic designer or art director, with a supporting portfolio.
Five years of experience working with design software, including Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Experience developing and executing integrated creative campaigns across digital, print, environmental, and multimedia channels.
Preferences
Five years of experience working in an in-house agency or corporate marketing department.
Three years of experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
EDUCATION
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or related field. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
