The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our team at a project in Fort McMurray. 

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience operating heavy equipment in oil sands environments.

 

Compensation/Benefits 

• CLAC rates 
• Time and a half after 8 hours 
• Regular work day 10.5 hours 2.5 OT per day

Responsibilities and Duties

• Ability to safety operate excavator
• Work cooperatively with crew to accomplish tasks
• Consistently monitor and maintain compliance with safety policies procedures and regulations
• Ensure a safe team environment
• Perform daily routine maintenance on machine including lubrication and monitor needed repairs/service requirements
• Operate equipment while maintaining proper awareness of surroundings
• Understand and complete pre and post safety checks
• Compliance with all safety regulations
• Various other duties assigned

 

Qualifications

• 5+ years of excavator operating experience, preferably in oil sands, industrial, pipeline or heavy civil construction
• Experience operating excavators ranging from 30-ton to 80-ton class equipment considered an asset
• Proven experience with trenching, utility installation, ditching, grading and production excavation
• Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Strong communication skills
• Valid Ground Disturbance ticket
• Familiarity with GPS and other tracking devices 
• Drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and procedures 
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
