This course offers an introduction to the theory and practice of negotiation as applied to resolving legal disputes and facilitating transactions. Topics covered in this course will include understanding the nature of conflict, defining and uncovering interests, and dealing with process challenges. As part of this course, students will engage in a series of hands-on simulations that will cover direct and multi-party negotiations in various practice areas.Posting limited to:

The Common Law Section is seeking candidates who are leaders in the legal profession. An LL.B., J.D., or equivalent is required for this position. Membership in the Law Society of Ontario, or equivalent, in good standing is also required. The successful candidate will have significant experience in alternative dispute resolution, particularly in the area of negotiation, and written and oral advocacy. Prior teaching experience will be considered an asset.
The Common Law Section reserves the right to select a candidate who does not fully meet each of these requirements, where the candidate’s selection would be beneficial to the program, the course, the students or for a related reason.
