SUMMARY

The Production Controller is responsible for supporting the daily flow of work throughout the Cable Assembly value stream. This entry-level position ensures production orders, materials, and documentation are delivered to the appropriate work centers in accordance with the dispatch list and production priorities. The Production Controller also maintains accurate production schedules by updating job status as work progresses through the factory, providing real-time visibility to Production and Planning. This role plays a key part in maintaining workflow, reducing delays, and supporting on-time delivery.

 

EESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Review the daily dispatch list and production priorities.
  • Deliver jobs, materials, and production documentation to the appropriate work centers.
  • Ensure production cells remain supplied with work to minimize downtime.
  • Update production schedules and dispatch systems as jobs progress through each manufacturing operation to maintain accurate production status and visibility.
  • Monitor job status and communicate priority changes to Production, Planning, and Materials.
  • Move work-in-process (WIP) between operations in accordance with production flow.
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, and Materials to resolve material shortages and workflow issues.
  • Verify travelers and documentation accompany each production order.
  • Maintain accurate WIP locations and support inventory accuracy.
  • Escalate production delays, bottlenecks, or material issues to supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area while following all safety, ESD, and quality requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on production flow, schedule accuracy, and manufacturing efficiency.

 

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

This role does not include direct supervisory responsibility for other employees; however, it provides opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the organization.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong grammar and clarity in both spoken and written formats.

  • Ability to read and understand production travelers and work instructions.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As part of their job duties, the employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to reach, stretch, push, pull, crouch, stoop, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT

A work environment in a manufacturing plant is the physical and social setting where goods production occurs. Common characteristics of a work environment in a manufacturing plant are the use of machinery and exposure to hazards such as chemicals, heat, dust, or noise, with a culture of teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.
  • Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.
