Description

St John of God Accord partners with people with disabilities, empowering them to live a great life. The service is a registered NDIS provider with a range of tailored services at more than 50 sites across Melbourne.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Learning and Development Coordinator to join our team and play a key role in supporting workforce development across our service.

This position is ideally suited to a qualified Registered Nurse who is looking to combine their clinical expertise with learning and development. In addition to coordinating and delivering engaging learning initiatives, you will support caregiver education relating to client health needs, caregiver capability, competency development, training coordination, and practice uplift across the service.

In this diverse and rewarding role, you will identify learning needs, deliver training and coaching, provide clinical education and support, and work closely with leaders and caregivers to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Your contribution will help enhance workforce capability, promote best practice, and ensure compliance with organisational, professional, and regulatory standards.

If you thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy empowering others to succeed, and are committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences and positive client outcomes, we would love to hear from you.

The role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 38 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support caregivers, graduates, students, and team members to build capability and achieve organisational objectives.

  • Drive team performance through effective coaching, resource management, career development support, and the promotion of best practice and continuous improvement.

  • Coordinate and deliver learning and development programs, clinical education, competency assessments, and workplace coaching to support caregiver capability and best practice.

  • Identify learning needs and collaborate with leaders and stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate effective learning solutions.

  • Support quality, safety, compliance, and accreditation outcomes through training, competency management, and learning governance activities.

  • Manage learning records, compliance reporting, orientation programs, graduate programs, and onboarding pathways to support workforce development.

  • Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to drive learning initiatives and organisational capability.

  • Coordinate NDIS High Intensity Daily Personal Activities (HIDPA) training, competency assessments, and compliance requirements.

  • Support client health needs by reviewing support plans, identifying training requirements, and facilitating clinical competency sign-off processes.

  • Contribute to the development, review, and continuous improvement of health-related policies, procedures, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance.

Your skills and experience

To thrive in this role, you will be a qualified Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and demonstrated experience in learning and development, clinical education, and competency assessment. You will bring a strong understanding of adult learning principles, contemporary healthcare practice, and the NDIS Practice Standards, including High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors.

You will have experience identifying learning needs, designing and delivering engaging education programs, and evaluating learning outcomes across clinical and non-clinical settings. With a solid understanding of clinical governance, quality and safety standards, and workforce development, you will be confident supporting caregivers to build competence, enhance performance, and deliver high-quality care.

Success in this role requires excellent organisational, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and lead change effectively. You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, supervise and support others, and utilise learning management systems, blended learning methodologies, and Microsoft Office applications to deliver impactful learning solutions and drive continuous improvement.

An understanding of the NDIS Practice Standards, disability workforce capability requirements, and contemporary person-centred support practices will be highly regarded. Candidates who can apply this knowledge to support caregiver development, quality service delivery, and positive outcomes for clients will be well positioned to succeed in the role.

Above all, people will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.

All applicants are requested to submit a covering letter (of no more than two (2) pages) demonstrating how you meet the above position requirements.
