Position Overview:
The HR Coordinator at our food manufacturing facility supports the day-to-day operations of the HR department, with a primary focus on recruiting coordination, alongside new hire onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance documentation. The role works closely with the Recruiting and Total Rewards teams to help maintain a smooth, well-organized HR function and a positive workplace culture. Job Responsibilities:
Recruiting Support
- Support the full-cycle recruitment process for hourly roles, including machine operators, line workers, sanitation staff, and warehouse associates.
- Post job openings and maintain accurate candidate records and requisitions in the applicant tracking system (ATS).
- Assist with sourcing candidates through job boards, employee referrals, community outreach, and other channels.
- Coordinate candidate interviews with hiring managers and shift supervisors, ensuring timely scheduling, communication, and feedback.
- Support pre-employment testing, background screening, and offer logistics.
- Help maintain recruiting metrics and reports, and support compliance with hiring policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., EEO, FLSA, I-9 documentation).
- Help ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
New Hire Onboarding
- Coordinate candidate background screening.
- Support the onboarding process for new hires, helping ensure a smooth transition into the company.
- Assist with new employee orientations and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed.
Benefits Administration
- Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and issues.
- Submit benefits vendor invoices and process purchase order (PO) creation.
- Support open enrollment and new hire benefits enrollments, helping ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Support wellness program activities and initiatives.
- Support the collection of missed payroll deductions for benefits premium payments.
- Help create and maintain SOPs and work instructions for benefits-related processes and systems.
Compliance and Reporting
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.
- Assist in preparing and submitting reports related to HR activities and metrics.
HR Policies and Procedures
- Help maintain and update HR policy and procedure documents.
- Support consistent application of company policies and procedures.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HR software; familiarity with Paychex or similar platforms is a plus.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite; experience with HRIS software a plus.
- Understanding of safety standards and practices in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
Education & Experience:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience supporting high-volume or hourly recruitment in a manufacturing, logistics, or industrial environment.
- One to two years of experience in HR, recruiting, benefits administration, or an administrative support role.
- Experience in the food manufacturing industry or similar regulated industries is a plus.
- Exposure to benefits administration processes and systems is a plus.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification, or progress toward one, is a plus.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to both the office setting and food manufacturing facility.
- Significant amount of time working at a computer station.
- Occasional visits to various areas of the manufacturing floor.
- Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
- Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
- Occasional ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Noise levels will vary; higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
