We’re looking for an Accounting Lead — Statutory Reporting in Raleigh, NC to join us in fulfilling our mission, while utilizing our values of excellence, improvement, and connection. In this role, you will report to the Director of Financial Reporting within the Controllership team and be responsible for the execution of NAIC and other statutory financial reporting and filings. This individual contributor role partners closely with the Director to support the management of reporting processes, timelines, and cross-functional coordination. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical for success. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with experience working across cross-functional teams and a continuous improvement mindset focused on enhancing processes and internal controls.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the preparation and execution of all quarterly and annual regulatory and statutory filings, including financial statements, schedules, and related notes and disclosures.
Prepare, review, and analyze supplemental schedules required for statutory and regulatory reporting.
Provide oversight and review premium tax filings across applicable states and municipalities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Own key components of the monthly close process related to statutory reporting, including the preparation and/or review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
Execute, monitor, and enhance internal controls over financial reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal control requirements.
Develop, maintain, and refine documentation for key statutory reporting processes and controls, identifying opportunities for standardization and improvement.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to compile, validate, and analyze data required for statutory financial statements and regulatory deliverables.
Act as a primary point of contact for external auditors and insurance regulators on assigned areas, responding to inquiries and preparing supporting documentation.
Partner with IT and other stakeholders to support continuous improvement initiatives related to data quality, reporting efficiency, and control effectiveness.
Lead regulatory audits, examinations, and internal reviews by providing technical support, analyzing findings, and assisting with remediation efforts.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
CPA Certification.
5+ years of general accounting experience.
Superior organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet regulatory deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Strong proficiency in Excel and other accounting and financial reporting tools.
Demonstrated attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within the accounting team and across departments and levels of the organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document accounting matters and explain information to internal and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Financial services or insurance experience.
Oracle or similar ERP experience.
