Description
Meet the Moment with Alteryx
We're living through a once-in-a-generation shift in how work gets done. Data, automation, and AI are quickly becoming the center of every business decision - and Alteryx is leading the transformation.
You'll be working on the challenges that sit at the heart of modern business. No matter your role, the work you do will help organizations move faster, see more clearly, and tackle questions that used to feel impossible.
If you're ready to meet the moment with innovation, curiosity, and excellence, there's a place for you here.
The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer designs, builds, and operates the cloud platforms that support Alteryx products and engineering teams. This role focuses on scalable infrastructure, automation, reliability, security, and the modernization of legacy systems across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
You will lead infrastructure initiatives from technical design through production deployment, working closely with Product Engineering, SRE, Security, Networking, Compliance, and other platform teams. You will also help simplify existing infrastructure, reduce manual operational work, and establish reusable patterns that make cloud services easier to deploy and support.
The ideal candidate is an experienced cloud engineer who can work independently, make sound technical decisions, troubleshoot complex distributed systems, and guide other engineers through design and implementation challenges.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain secure, reliable, and scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, Terragrunt, and reusable infrastructure modules.
Build and support Kubernetes-based platforms using technologies such as Amazon EKS, Google Kubernetes Engine, Helm, Argo CD, and service mesh technologies.
Develop and improve CI/CD workflows using GitLab CI/CD and related deployment automation.
Lead the migration of legacy infrastructure, applications, and operational processes to modern cloud-native architectures.
Refactor large or tightly coupled infrastructure implementations into smaller, maintainable, and independently deployable components.
Automate cloud account provisioning, access controls, network configuration, secrets management, platform upgrades, and infrastructure lifecycle operations.
Support cloud networking capabilities, including load balancing, DNS, ingress, and service discovery.
Implement secure identity and access patterns using cloud IAM, workload identity, role-based access control, Teleport, and centralized secrets management services.
Investigate complex infrastructure and application issues across cloud services, Kubernetes clusters, virtual machines, networking, and deployment pipelines.
Partner with Security and Compliance teams to implement cloud governance, encryption, access control, vulnerability management, and audit requirements.
Evaluate technical debt and operational toil, then prioritize automation and architectural improvements that reduce risk and improve engineering efficiency.
Create technical designs, operational documentation, implementation plans, runbooks, and support procedures.
Lead technical initiatives with limited supervision and communicate risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and progress clearly to stakeholders.
Review infrastructure code and technical designs while mentoring less-experienced engineers.
Participate in production support and incident response activities, including root cause analysis and follow-up remediation.
Required Qualifications
At least five years of professional engineering experience, including three or more years focused on cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or site reliability engineering.
Strong hands-on experience with at least one major public cloud platform—AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud—and working knowledge of multi-cloud infrastructure.
Production experience with Terraform or another infrastructure-as-code framework.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms and automated infrastructure delivery processes.
Experience using Helm to package, configure, and deploy applications or platform components in Kubernetes environments.
Experience operating Kubernetes-based platforms and troubleshooting workloads, clusters, networking, and deployment issues.
Demonstrated experience migrating legacy systems, manually managed infrastructure, or traditional data center workloads to cloud-based or cloud-native platforms.
Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, encryption, secrets management, observability, and infrastructure security.
Experience supporting production services with defined reliability, availability, performance, and operational requirements.
Ability to independently lead technical projects, manage competing priorities, and drive work through production validation.
Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, networking, operating systems, automation, and distributed services.
Experience reviewing technical designs and mentoring engineers.
Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, security, compliance, and operations teams.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Terragrunt, GitLab CI/CD, Argo CD, Teleport, Linkerd, or similar technologies.
Experience designing cloud landing zones, account or project provisioning, organizational policies, and cloud governance controls.
Experience migrating virtual machine-based services to containerized or Kubernetes-based platforms.
Familiarity with cloud cost optimization, capacity management, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
Experience supporting SaaS platforms operating across multiple geographic regions and cloud providers.
Experience working in PCI, SOC 2, ISO, HIPAA, FedRAMP, or similarly regulated environments.
Experience improving legacy Terraform codebases, splitting shared state, introducing reusable modules, and reducing deployment complexity.
Experience developing infrastructure automation, platform services, or internal tools using TypeScript or Go.
Experience working with globally distributed engineering and operations teams.
