Core Responsibilities:

Join the Maine CDC’s Maine CDC’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) as a Data Coordinator and serve as a key player in our multidisciplinary team’s efforts to control and prevent childhood lead poisoning. Your role on this integrated team will be to coordinate our case management data and database. This includes data on cases and the case management workflow, as well as data from environmental lead investigations in homes, including laboratory analyses of lead in dust, soil, and water, and clinical blood lead testing data. You will use this knowledge to maintain and improve our childhood lead poisoning case management and surveillance informatics system, the Childhood Health and Environmental Surveillance System (CHESS) used to track environmental lead investigations and abatement orders and monitor children’s blood lead levels. You will also play a leading role in efforts to maintain and enhance a Blood Lead Module in ImmPact, Maine’s Immunization Information System, which allows providers to view and report patients’ blood lead test histories to CLPPP.

You will also:

•        Collaborate with Information Technology staff to troubleshoot database issues;

•        Schedule and ensure coverage for daily, mission-critical data transfer routines;

•        Be responsible for data quality assurance routines;

•        Serve as helpdesk support and an expert trainer for the Blood Lead Module in the ImmPact Immunization Information System;

•        Train co-workers to use our database and update database documentation and user manuals;

•        Write reports and queries to fulfill data requests and support program operations; and

•        Coordinate contracts and monitor contract expenditures with informatics vendors.

•        Work with team members to maintain a quality assurance program through consistent communication, shared accountability, and a focus on continuous improvement.

•        Monitor case outcomes and data trends, and work with colleagues to identify and resolve issues in order to strengthen the Program’s public health impact.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 A six (6) year combination of education and/or experience in environmental, biological, physical science, or engineering which includes two (2) years of environmental experience. Qualifying education must include at least 15 credit hours of science or engineering coursework from an accredited educational institution.

 Preferred candidates will also have: 

•        Experience using, maintaining, and troubleshooting cloud-based SQL server databases;

•        Experience with conducting data quality assurance and control;

•        Ability to plan and implement database changes, develop appropriate testing plans, and modify data systems to support programmatic functions;

•        Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to provide trainings on technical information to a variety of audiences.
