What you will do:

To provide leadership, mentoring and direction to hourly, salaried and management personnel engaged in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety (EHS) activities related to a medium to large facility.

Responsibilities

• Identifies common and more complex safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organizations operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.

• Ensures EHS training is completed to comply with regulatory requirements or in support of facility, division, or enterprise objectives.

• Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.

• Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions, alerts line management to problems and makes recommendations for improvement.

Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.

Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Overcoming Resistance to Change: Understanding and insight into the futility of refusing to accept the inevitable and ability to overcome resistance and adapt to a complex and changing environment.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies; ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards.

 

Basic Requirements:

Education: Bachelor degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or another appropriate scientific/technical discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS.

Demonstrated experience with EHS policy compliance and program implementation.

Ability to identify and mitigate safety, health, and environmental hazards.

Working knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, state, local, and other EHS regulatory requirements.

Experience conducting or overseeing risk assessments, audits, incident investigations, corrective actions, and compliance activities.

Knowledge on regulatory requirements on related field.
Additional akills and knowledge:

Leadership Skills: Ability to train personnel, manage teams, and promote a culture of safety. Change Management.  

Ability to drive organizational change and overcome resistance to new safety processes and behaviors.

Strong communication and project-management capabilities.

Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and change-management capabilities

English Level: Pre-Advanced

 

Top candidates will also have:

English Level: Advanced

Familiarity with Caterpillar  

 

Note: This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week.
