Description
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of municipal utility, roadway, drainage, pavement, and site development construction practices and inspection procedures.
- Knowledge of construction testing requirements, traffic control, erosion control, trench safety, and applicable construction standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, permits, standard details, and City construction standards.
- Ability to identify construction deficiencies, document findings, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, developers, City personnel,and the public.
• Must possess a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal utility construction, public works construction, roadway construction, subdivision development, commercial site development, construction inspection, or related infrastructure projects.
• Associate degree or college coursework in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Public Works, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience inspecting water, wastewater, drainage, street, concrete, and asphalt pavement construction is preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position may be considered.
Special Qualifications:
• Valid Texas Driver's License required.
• Ability to obtain certifications relevant to construction inspection and public infrastructure as required by the City.
• APWA Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII), NICET, ICC, ACI, TxDOT, or related certifications are preferred.
