The Principal Test Engineer (PTE) is a QCC problem-finder and solution driver for the Frontier program, specifically focusing on Frontier End to End Testing and Quality. The role will provide oversight and guidance on planning, coordination and execution of Cross Domain End-to-End Testing including UAT. This role aligns to the Frontier Quality Strategy principles: quality throughout the SDLC, risk-based decisioning, automation to tighten feedback loops, augmenting the value chain with AI, and leveraging existing enterprise standards and the “chain of trust".
Leads Development of systems testing strategies, plans, cases and conditions; tests and monitors testing efforts; responsible for system testing across multiple environments and for applying standards and quality assurance principles. Develops new or modified Test Engineering procedures and standards and assists in the development and implementation of test metrics for assessing the quality of delivered application software. Contributes expert knowledge of testing systems, processes and methodologies with client, IT management and staff throughout the project life cycle, to assist and support the design, development and implementation of effective systems. Provides guidance in the creation and introduction of critical shift-left techniques. Directly responsible for projects or subprojects of significant technical complexity; leads projects including developing project plans, assigning tasks and facilitating team process. Receives general direction and is competent to work at the highest level of all technical phases of software testing. Provides coaching and guidance to other team members.
Responsibilities
- Builds test engineering processes and procedures that can be used across the enterprise for effective testing of all application sprints running on varied technical platforms.
- Collaborate with developers and architects to promote
- enterprise shift-left techniques and whitebox/graybox testing objectives such as: ' Code coverage analysis ' Static code analysis / tooling ' Service virtualization ' Continuous integration ' Automated build and deploy ' Continuous delivery ' Test driven / behavior driven development Initiate and lead strategic quality initiatives for the department (e.g. test data management, environment virtualization, security testing)
- Provides technical vision for highly complex ideas and issues to varied audiences including various management levels communicates project objectives, scope and direction across project teams.
- Consults on major, complex design considerations.
- Provides guidance in the selection of project structure/methodology, work schedules, cost estimates and responsible for managing QA effort to defined plan.
- Leads a variety of quality assurance reviews of business requirements, system design and user acceptance test. Implements testing automation within the pipelines and provide quality status reports.
- Performs holistic system performance analysis and testing. Mentors junior test engineers and vendor partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
- 8 years of experience in Test Engineer-related occupation.
- Experience with enterprise shift-left techniques and whitebox/graybox testing objectives such as: ' Code coverage analysis ' Static code analysis / tooling ' Service virtualization ' Continuous integration ' Automated build and deploy ' Continuous delivery ' Test driven / behavior driven development
- Experience Initiating and leading strategic quality initiatives (e.g. test data management, environment virtualization, security testing)
- Broad knowledge of business modeling, process engineering, change management and test case generation techniques.
- Ability to plan and implement all aspects of the testing process in application areas that have no current testing support.
- Extensive knowledge of development concepts and industry trends/direction for cloud technologies and CI/CD concepts, specifically how to implement testing automation within the pipelines.
- Knowledge of quality measurement, status reporting.
