About the role

We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused and detail-oriented Warehouse and Logistics Officer to join our Stafford warehouse team and support our Tribology operations.

Tribology is the science of friction, wear and lubrication. The team supports customers by preparing and dispatching specialized sampling kits and associated materials used for the laboratory testing and analysis of oils, lubricants, fuels and other industrial fluids.

This is a hands-on and varied role involving warehouse operations, inventory control, kit preparation, domestic freight, pick-pack-dispatch activities, truck and container loading, mechanical handling equipment operation and operational systems administration.

In this full time role, you will report directly to the Tribology Team Leader, with broader accountability to the Warehouse Manager.

Key responsibilities:

Warehouse and Inventory Operations

• Complete accurate and efficient velocity picking, batch picking, put-away and stock replenishment activities.

• Monitor pick-face stock levels and initiate replenishment activities to prevent delays to picking operations.

• Assist with bulk stock movements and general warehouse duties as operational requirements change.

• Ensure all picking and put-away tasks are completed accurately, in full and within the required timeframes.

• Complete inventory transactions, pick confirmations, put-away confirmations and stock movements accurately and on time using company warehouse, ERP and operational systems.

• Participate in scheduled stocktakes and promptly report inventory discrepancies.

• Support the achievement of inventory accuracy, operational efficiency and service targets.

Tribology Kit Support

• Pick consumables and components required for specialised Tribology sampling kits.

• Assist with kit assembly, quality checks and dispatch preparation.

• Ensure kits are complete, accurate and prepared within the required timeframes.

• Maintain a high level of care and attention to detail, recognising the importance of accurate kit contents to laboratory testing activities.

• Support the achievement of kit production and dispatch targets.

Pick, Pack, Freight and Dispatch

• Pick, pack, label and stage domestic customer orders for carrier collection.

• Verify order contents against pick documentation before dispatch.

• Select suitable, right-sized packaging materials that protect goods while minimising waste.

• Book domestic freight through approved carrier management platforms.

• Select suitable carriers and service levels, prepare consignment documentation and manage booking confirmations.

• Promptly escalate freight delays, delivery exceptions, booking issues and discrepancies to the Team Leader.

• Ensure packing and dispatch activities meet internal standards, carrier requirements and dangerous goods requirements, where applicable.

Truck and Container Loading

• Under the direction of the Team Leader, safely and efficiently load delivery vehicles and containers in accordance with load restraint requirements, weight distribution principles and workplace safety procedures.

Mechanical Handling Equipment

• Safely operate on-site mechanical handling equipment, including counterbalance and aisle-reach forklifts, as required.

• Hold a current and appropriate forklift licence, as forklift operation is a mandatory requirement of the role.

• Complete pre-start checks before operating equipment and immediately report any defects or safety concerns.

• Operate all equipment in accordance with licence requirements, relevant training, manufacturer instructions and company procedures.

• Support the safe movement, storage, loading and unloading of stock throughout the warehouse.

Safety, Dangerous Goods and Compliance

• Maintain a strong commitment to workplace health and safety across all warehouse activities.

• Promptly identify and report hazards, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.

• Maintain clean, organised and safe work areas.

• Participate in required WHS training, toolbox talks and safety initiatives.

• Handle, store, pick, pack and dispatch dangerous goods in accordance with applicable legislation, site procedures and safety requirements.

• Ensure safe work practices are consistently applied when handling stock, operating mechanical handling equipment, loading vehicles and preparing freight.

Sustainability and Continuous Improvement

• Support sustainability initiatives and waste-reduction practices across warehouse operations.

• Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, inventory accuracy and service delivery.

• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the warehouse team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A current and appropriate forklift licence, which is mandatory for this role.

• Demonstrated experience operating counterbalance or aisle-reach forklifts. Experience operating both types of forklifts in a warehouse or logistics environment will be highly regarded.

• Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, distribution, manufacturing or similar operational environment.

• Experience with picking, packing, dispatch and stock control processes.

• Confidence using warehouse, inventory, ERP and freight carrier systems.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy when handling stock, packing orders and entering data.

• A sound understanding of safe manual handling, warehouse safety and general WHS requirements.

• The ability to safely perform the physical requirements of a hands-on warehouse role.

• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with team members, supervisors and freight carriers.

• A reliable, flexible and team-oriented approach to work.

• Experience handling dangerous goods is preferred but not essential.
