Warehouse Inventory Specialist (Quartermaster)

The Quartermaster will be responsible for inventory management and coordinates and participates in procuring, storing, distributing, and maintaining all equipment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), medical supplies, and other materials necessary for operating and equipping functional areas within the Department of Fire Department.
Work is performed under the supervision and direction of the Assistant Chief of Logistics.ESSENTIAL TASKS include the following: other duties may be assigned.

1. Perform technical level logistical duties under general supervision
2. Establish and organize the departmental storage facilities and related areas to support the supply and logistics functions of the department
3. Assist in development of specifications for PPE, and various and fire/rescue supplies
4. Procure supplies and equipment in accordance with City/County purchasing policies and work with vendors to assure cost efficiency.
5. Manages inventory control systems; maintain records of receipts and disbursements, conduct inventories and inspections, receive and verify deliveries
6. Load/unload deliveries; may deliver to fire stations and other work areas
7. Maintain appropriate environmental conditions in all areas of responsibility
8. Apparatus headset Repair
9. Minor SCBA repair
10. SCBA compressor air sampling
11. Fire apparatus pump testing
12. Assist fire maintenance staff as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
2. Five years' work experience in inventory control, storekeeping, distribution, and/or procurement
3. Experience in the field of fire & EMS preferred

4. Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel.
5. Ability to prepare memorandums and professional correspondence
6. Knowledge of storeroom and warehouse inventory methods
7. Knowledge of fire service equipment and operations
8. Knowledge of and ability to apply City/County purchasing procedures

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

1. Valid Class B Driver’s License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Must be able to safely perform the duties of the position without posing a threat to the health and safety of themselves or others.
2. Will frequently be required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 50lbs. and will occasionally be required to bend, kneel, crouch push, pull, climb ladders, reach above, at and below shoulder height.
3. Will be working in a warehouse environment and outside where they may be exposed to extreme heat or cold conditions.
4. Will be required to operate fire apparatus, and other fire department vehicles.
