Office Location: This position is assigned to our office located at 84th & O St, Lincoln, NE.
Pay Grade 6: $26.539/hour
This rate is based upon available budget funds; any offer will be made at this rate.

Essential Functions
- Manages the calendars of senior leaders in the Commissioner’s Office and arranges for the representation of the Commissioner’s Office at meetings and events.
- Assists with daily operations of the office, including scheduling meetings, receiving visitors, answering phones, and directing and answering inquiries.
- Coordinates travel logistics including transportation, lodging, registration, food, and payments for the Commissioner’s Office and members of the State Board of Education
- Assists with State Board of Education meeting agenda preparation and logistics.
- Assists with generating and processing contracts, agreements, and grants for workshops, meetings, speakers, and staff.
- Coordinates workflow and schedules office operations and staff activities to facilitate management of NDE operations.
- Processes and maintains databases and spreadsheets to provide information.
- Creates correspondence, summaries, and other mailings for public information and awareness activities.
- Performs administrative duties and accounting work including preparing, maintaining, and processing financial records and documents, and accounts receivable and payable in the State of Nebraska accounting system.
Working Conditions and Travel:
This position requires approximately 90% of work time spent in an office environment; the remainder is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as state board meetings, schools, educational service units, conferences, and other agencies. There is also approximately five to ten days of overnight travel per year.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in related field and five years of experience related to the essential functions of the position. Any equivalent education and/or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of PreK-12 education and experience working within the executive office of a business or agency.
