About the Role

Are you a passionate clinical leader dedicated to delivering exceptional behavioral healthcare? Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Clinical Services to lead and advance our clinical programs, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, clinical excellence, and operational success.

In this key leadership role, you will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of evidence-based treatment programs while guiding a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health professionals. You will foster a culture of accountability, compassion, innovation, and recovery while driving measurable outcomes, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence across the organization.

 

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

• Clinical Leadership & OperationsProvide strategic leadership and oversight for all clinical services and programming.Lead daily clinical operations, budget management, service delivery initiatives, and strategic planning.Serve as a member of the hospital leadership team, driving organizational success and quality patient outcomes.Promote collaboration, accountability, efficiency, and patient-centered care across departments.
• Staff Development & SupervisionRecruit, mentor, supervise, and develop therapists, social workers, and clinical staff.Provide consultation and oversight for treatment planning, care coordination, and crisis intervention.Ensure staff are trained in and consistently utilize evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, and measurement-based care. Monitor licensure, certifications, professional development, and performance management activities.
• Program Development & Quality Improvement
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment programs that improve patient outcomes and support recovery Evaluate key performance metrics, including patient satisfaction, treatment effectiveness, length of stay, and discharge success.Conduct clinical audits to ensure quality documentation, regulatory compliance, and fidelity to treatment models.Support strong continuity of care through effective discharge planning and community partnerships.

• Compliance & Patient SafetyEnsure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state licensing, and other applicable regulatory standards.Oversee performance improvement initiatives and quality assurance activities.Champion best practices in patient safety, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention.Ensure accurate clinical documentation and adherence to standards of care.
• Community Engagement & Partnership DevelopmentCollaborate with hospital leadership to align clinical services with organizational goals and values.Build and maintain relationships with referral sources, healthcare providers, and community organizations.Participate in business development efforts, educational events, and outreach initiatives to expand access to behavioral healthcare services.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
• Current independent clinical license (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist, or equivalent).
• 4+ years of clinical experience with the population served.
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, CARF, and other regulatory standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

Preferred

• LCSW strongly preferred.
• Experience in an inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health hospital.
• Experience with substance use treatment or other specialty behavioral health programs.
