Description

We're recruiting for an enthusiastic and organised Aviation Safety & Compliance Officer to join our team at Jersey Airport.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a career in aviation safety, compliance and assurance, helping to ensure the airport continues to operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with aviation regulations.  

Working alongside the aviation safety and compliance team, you'll support the delivery of the Airport's Safety Management System, assist with audits and investigations, help maintain key safety documentation, and work with operational teams across the airport to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the Airport's Safety Management System (SMS) and Aviation Integrated Management System (AIMS).
  • Coordinate occurrence reporting, helping to ensure safety events are recorded, investigated and followed through to completion. 
  • Support hazard identification, safety risk management and safety performance monitoring.
  • Assist with internal investigations, audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Monitor and track corrective actions arising from audits, investigations and safety reviews
  • Support the Aerodrome and Air Navigation Services (ANS) compliance monitoring programme.
  • Assist with external regulatory audits, inspections and mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain controlled safety documentation, manuals and records. 
  • Support safety communications, awareness campaigns, training materials and the promotion of a positive reporting culture.
  • Work closely with operational teams across the airport, including ANS, engineering, fire and aerodrome operations, to support compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Educated to A-Level standard (or equivalent) or able to demonstrate relevant practical experience.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Professional, proactive and positive approach to work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • An understanding of working within structured procedures and processes.
  • An awareness of safety or compliance principles.
  • Experience or qualifications in safety, compliance, quality assurance or auditing.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) or compliance monitoring programmes.
  • An interest in aviation and a willingness to undertake aviation-related training.

  • 5% employer contribution rate on basic salary plus shift
  • Employees can make voluntary contributions and ports will match 1% for 1% up to an employer maximum matched contribution of 5% e.g. Employee opts to contribute 5% Ports will match this and the total employer contributions would become 10%
  • You are eligible to join the pension scheme the month after successful completion of your probation
  • Minimum joining age – 18 
  • You are not able to join the pension scheme once you reach Government of Jersey state retirement age
  • Cash sum payable to nominated beneficiary if the member dies in service.
