Job Requirements:
Driver’s Licence: Valid commercial driver's licence (DZ / Class 3 or higher) with a clean driving abstract.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education or courses considered an asset).
Driving Experience: 1 to 2 years of commercial driving experience in the waste management or heavy transport industry (5 years of experience operating Roll-Off / DZ vehicles strongly preferred).
Equipment Handling: Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy commercial collection vehicles (Roll-Off or Front-End systems) and hydraulic compaction equipment.
Commitment to Safety: Ability to successfully meet all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
Reliability & Communication: Excellent attendance record, strong customer focus, and effective interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
Responsibilities:
Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate a Roll-Off truck along assigned daily routes to deliver, lift, position, and dump commercial containers at customer sites.
Safety Inspections: Perform rigorous daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, completing route sheets and required paperwork accurately.
Hauling & Dumping: Transport waste and recyclable materials to designated transfer stations, landfills, or drop-off sites while strictly following facility dumping protocols.
System & Equipment Use: Operate hydraulic systems with precision, ensuring proper techniques are used to avoid equipment damage or safety hazards.
Load Inspection: Climb truck ladders when required to inspect, secure, and verify loads safely before transport.
Reporting & Maintenance: Promptly report any mechanical defects, road hazards, or safety incidents to management.
Service Quality: Maintain high productivity on routes, adhere to customer service standards, and keep assigned vehicles clean.
Regulatory Compliance: Strictly follow all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Team Collaboration: Work closely with dispatchers and operations managers to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
Other Duties: Perform additional operational tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager.
