Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 11pm to 7am
Position Summary
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this position is responsible for leadership and coordination of all activities on their assigned shift(s). The position requires a strong ability to coach and mentor teams while assuring the efficient utilization of a talented workforce and equipment. The position is a coach to associates to coordinate production to meet safety, quality, workflow, manning, material handling, and maintenance goals as necessary to ensure efficient continuous production. Lean Manufacturing techniques will be used to drive continuous improvement. The Shift Supervisor will be required to be present at shift change meetings. The end goal is to develop high performing, self-directed work teams within manufacturing cells.
Responsibilities:
Assign personnel to support production schedules and ensure appropriate shift coverage.
Review production reports, identify performance gaps, and take corrective action to meet production targets.
Train and coach employees on proper work methods to maximize output, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
Maintain high standards for quality, housekeeping, safety, and overall shift performance.
Communicate and apply company policies, procedures, and expectations consistently across the assigned shift.
Execute directions from the Production Manager, including schedule changes, equipment preparation, and changeovers.
Enforce plant and company rules while maintaining positive employee relations.
Partner with Engineering to support the introduction of new processes into production.
Monitor inventory levels for tools, dies, tips, materials, and other production supplies to help prevent equipment downtime.
Lead performance evaluations, coaching, and development for approximately 20–30 hourly production employees on the assigned shift.
Establish measurable goals and objectives aligned with Production Manager priorities.
Participate in interviewing and selecting production employees for vacancies on the assigned shift.
Identify employee performance concerns early and partner with appropriate resources to provide support and address issues.
Work with employees to reduce manufacturing costs while meeting service, volume, safety, and quality requirements.
Support scheduling activities as needed, including reviewing backlog, planning component manufacturing based on due dates, and preparing production schedules.
Knowledge and skill requirements:
Degree in a relevant field preferred; equivalent manufacturing leadership experience will also be considered.
1–3 years of experience in a Production Supervisor role within a manufacturing environment.
Experience using SAP or other ERP systems to support production, inventory, or operational processes.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Lean Manufacturing certification or formal training is considered an asset.
