A little about this position:
- Under the direction of the Ski Patrol Director the Assistant Director, Operations, oversees the daily operations of Ski Patrol. Works closely with the Patrol Director, VP of Mountain Operations, and the Patrol leadership team to set operational objectives. Manages staff, facilitates training, and provides mentorship, coaching, and correcting.
- This role combines field leadership with administrative oversight and requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, expert skiing ability, strong downhill mountain biking ability, and the ability to lead effectively. The Assistant Director, Snow Safety works closely with the Director, Ski Patrol and other Patrol management to coordinate staffing, training, avalanche mitigation support, operational priorities, and emergency response readiness across the mountain.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Professional Ski Patroller in a Class A Avalanche rated ski resort and meet the requirements of a TT-C or TT-D Mammoth Patroller.
- Experience managing people and risks in high consequence environments. More detail requested- years of experience or detail on risks
- Current EMR, EMT, or Paramedic with BLS CPR first aid certification.
- Current California Avalanche Blaster license.
- Expert level knowledge in one or more areas of patrol specialty: rescue dogs, medical, technical rescue etc.
- Current EMR, EMT, or Paramedic with BLS CPR first aid certification
- Current Cal/OSHA Blaster’s License with appropriate limitations
- Ability to direct the Ski Patrol staff to safely and successfully complete avalanche control work and perform daily activities
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a patrol management team
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with other managers/departments, Ski Patrol staff, guests, and outside organizations
- Demonstrated ability to act with independent judgment
- Demonstrated ability to make rational decisions in a high stress environment or situation
- Effective coaching, correcting, and evaluating of Ski Patrol staff
- Basic computer skills required and experience with Microsoft Office
Pay: $95,649.29 - $102,186.97 per year
