Summary
This position is responsible for assisting in controlling expenses; ensuring compliance and coordination with federal meat inspection and OSHA requirements; interpreting and enforcing company policies; maintaining non-union programs; assisting in determining manpower needs and making staffing recommendations; preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports; solving problems effectively with appropriate follow-up; and working with department heads to achieve production, quality, yield, labor, and performance goals.
The role also oversees housekeeping, safety, sanitation, security, and food safety standards throughout the facility. Additional responsibilities include managing, evaluating, and training production supervisors, overseeing designated shift operations, and performing other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience required; college degree preferred.
Experience: Five or more years of related industry experience and five or more years of supervisory experience in a meat processing facility required. Poultry processing experience preferred. Knowledge of OSHA, USDA, and HACCP regulations is required.
Computer Skills: Standard computer proficiency.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with hourly team members, supervisors, upper management, and government officials.
Special Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage subordinate supervisors and plant team members in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and directing work, monitoring performance, coaching, counseling, disciplining, rewarding employees, and resolving workplace issues.
Travel: 0–20%.
Other Requirements: Must lead by example, effectively delegate responsibility, exercise sound judgment and decision-making, and demonstrate strong managerial skills. Candidates should maintain excellent safety and attendance records and be able to work collaboratively with department heads to achieve safety, production, quality, and yield goals.
