Shift: 3:00 PM - 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with opportunities for overtime. Flexibility for occasional shift changes is required.

As a Senior Equipment Engineering Technician at ASM, you will play a critical role in supporting advanced semiconductor manufacturing and R&D operations. In this hands-on, technology-rich role, you will work directly with ASM's advanced thermal and plasma ALD systems, ensuring the tools that enable next-generation chip manufacturing perform at their highest levels. You will be part of an expert engineering environment, troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and automation systems while partnering closely with equipment, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to solve challenging hardware and process issues.

Whether you are investigating alarms, performing preventative maintenance, supporting equipment installations, leading root-cause analysis efforts, or driving continuous improvement activities, your work directly contributes to ASM's reputation for world-class reliability, innovation, and performance. This position offers the opportunity to further develop technical expertise, mentor junior technicians, collaborate with highly skilled engineering teams, and support technologies used in devices around the world.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities on thermal and plasma ALD equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and automation-related issues on semiconductor equipment.
  • Monitor tool status, alarms, and performance, ensuring issues are appropriately escalated and resolved.
  • Support installation, modification, qualification, and commissioning of new equipment and facility upgrades.
  • Partner with equipment, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to resolve hardware and process-related challenges.
  • Lead and participate in root-cause analysis activities, implementing corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Interpret mechanical schematics, electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical documentation to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, equipment status, repairs, and technical findings.
  • Assist with spare parts, consumables, and chemical inventory management.
  • Follow all cleanroom, safety, environmental, and chemical handling procedures and ensure compliance with ASM standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment uptime, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced technicians when needed.

What We Are Looking For

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent military technical training.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with complex equipment, high-precision tools, automation systems, semiconductor equipment, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills involving complex electro-mechanical and microprocessor-controlled systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance, repairs, installations, and system diagnostics.
  • Strong understanding of vacuum systems, pumps, gas delivery systems, heaters, valves, and related mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment or semiconductor capital equipment.
  • Experience working in a semiconductor cleanroom environment.
  • Familiarity with thin-film deposition technologies such as ALD or PECVD.
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems, RF plasma technologies, gas delivery systems, and electro-pneumatic controls.
  • Experience supporting advanced manufacturing, automation, or capital equipment in R&D or production environments.
  • Understanding of structured problem-solving methodologies and root-cause analysis techniques.
  • Experience handling or working around chemicals, specialty gases, or hazardous materials in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor others, share technical knowledge, and support team development.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships and effectively collaborate with engineering teams.
  • Passion for working with advanced technology and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Apply today to be part of what’s next.
