Description
Under the direction of the County Manager, provides leadership, management, organization, direction, and supervision for all Conference Center operations and activities. Demonstrates strong ethical, professional, and service-oriented leadership. Responsible for the training, performance management, marketing, and maintenance of the Conference Center.
- Oversee all operational aspects of the Conference Center.
- Implementation of policies and procedures as they relate to the Conference Center operations and ongoing review and addition/revisions as necessary.
- Coordination of events at the Conference Center.
- Maintenance of records as they relate to events and maintenance at the Conference Center.
- Active participation in marketing efforts for the Conference Center.
- Prepare budget for operations of the Conference Center.
- Supervision of Conference Center personnel.
- Maintains a Program that is progressive, modern, and fully compliant with all applicable government standards and regulations in its approach to delivering services.
- Responsible for the completion of projects in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for the hiring, assignment, evaluation, and discipline of personnel.
- Ensures that relevant educational and professional development opportunities are provided for all employees.
- Ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations and administrative policies.
- Works with County Manager or designee to develop and manage the Conference Center budget.
- As required by the County Manager or designee, attends and participates in Board of County Commission meetings and other government meetings as it relates to the conference center.
- Serves as liaison between the conference center and the general public, various government agencies, and municipalities.
- Plans, implements, and reviews the Department's short- and long-range goals.
- Demonstrates continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.
- Maintains knowledge of current best practices for conference centers and renewal through such means as attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, taking classes, and participating in professional development activities.
- Knowledge of hospitality services and skills with a strong emphasis on customer service, professionalism, communication, and creating a welcoming experience for guests.
- Knowledge of civic/event center booking and management, including coordinating reservations, overseeing event logistics, and ensuring exceptional customer service.
- Associate’s degree in a related field and five (5) years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of experience
- Valid New Mexico State Driver’s License. Must have a good driving record to be insurable for liability purposes.

- Stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
