Location: Valley, NE Facility (onsite) | Spring 2027

A Brief Summary of This Position:

Valmont is seeking a motivated and driven Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Global Agriculture division. In this role, you will contribute to the goals of the Mechanical Engineering team while gaining hands-on experience and learning industry best practices from experienced engineering professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, collaborate with subject matter experts across the organization, and gain exposure to various areas of the business.

As part of Valmont's internship program, you will participate in project work, leadership development activities, job shadowing, and interactions with senior leadership, providing a well-rounded professional development experience. This position reports to the Director of Engineering and may involve up to 10% domestic travel during the summer, providing exposure to customer interactions and field operations.

 

What You’ll Do:

• Engage in design and development activities to meet project requirements
• Work with individuals from Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Operations, Service and Engineering Services to ensure design efficiency and manufacturability
• Participate in technical design review meetings and conference calls and provide mechanical design direction and input
• Learn and follow standard design and development procedures, recommending updates to design procedures when needed
• Develop modifications to existing designs and products to meet changes in manufacturing capabilities, support cost reduction activities, and address reliability and warranty issues
• Be involved in the engineering design and development of new products to meet requirements as defined by the Product Management team
• Responsible for maintaining good relationships with customers, field personnel and other Valmont departments to ensure the most efficient working environment
• Responsible for coordinating and conducting laboratory or field testing as situations dictate
• Provide technical support to other departments as required toward meeting the needs of our customers

 

What We’re Looking For:

• Junior pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering

• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

• Mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

• Organized, driven, and eager to learn

• Ability to travel domestically up to 10% during the internship

 

Preferred:

· Experience in an agricultural setting

· 3D computer aided design experience
