💻 Role

We are seeking a Head of Tax and Treasury to lead Whatnot's global tax and treasury functions. This leader will own tax strategy, reporting, and compliance; cash and liquidity management; banking and investments; and the team, controls, and systems needed to support a rapidly scaling marketplace.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical judgment with a builder mindset. You will partner across Finance, Payments, Legal, Product, and Engineering to manage risk, improve capital efficiency, and build infrastructure that scales with new products and markets.

We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our San Francisco, Los Angeles or New York City hub.

As our next Head of Tax & Treasury you should have:

• 12+ years of progressive corporate tax, treasury, or finance leadership, including meaningful ownership of both global tax and treasury in a multinational business.

• Deep expertise in ASC 740, U.S. corporate and international tax, transfer pricing, indirect tax, and global tax compliance and reporting.

• Hands-on experience leading liquidity planning, cash forecasting, investments, banking relationships, foreign exchange risk, and intercompany funding.

• Public accounting experience, ideally Big 4, plus in-house experience at a high-growth technology, marketplace, payments, or e-commerce company.

• Experience supporting international expansion, M&A, financing transactions, and complex legal entity structures.

• Proven success building teams, systems, controls, and processes in a fast-changing environment, with strong executive communication and influence.

• A strong ownership mindset. You are comfortable moving quickly, working through ambiguity, and rolling up your sleeves when the situation calls for it.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA, MST, CTP, JD or another relevant advanced credential strongly preferred .

The salary or hourly rate range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary or hourly rate will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary or hourly rate, not benefits or equity.
