About the role
We are looking for an experienced Social Media Expert to join a high-profile communication team within a European Institution in Brussels.
In this role, you will support the management and growth of several major EU social media channels, helping to strengthen engagement with citizens and stakeholders. You will contribute to content creation, community management, social media advertising, performance analysis, and reporting while working closely with multidisciplinary teams including web, audiovisual, and communication specialists.

Your Responsibilities
As a Social Media Expert, you will:
- Manage interactions with social media users, responding to questions and comments in line with communication objectives and institutional priorities.
- Create and publish engaging daily content across multiple social media platforms.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure a continuous and effective flow of information.
- Foster online community engagement and actively participate in relevant conversations.
- Identify opportunities, risks, and emerging discussions relating to the organisation’s brand and activities.
- Collaborate closely with web, audiovisual, and communication teams to deliver integrated social media strategies.
- Provide graphic design and audiovisual support for social media campaigns and content production.
- Plan, implement, monitor, and optimise paid and organic social media campaigns.
- Define and monitor short-term and long-term social media KPIs.
- Analyse campaign performance and audience behaviour through social media analytics tools.
- Produce regular and ad hoc reports, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Monitor platform performance and identify trends, opportunities, and best practices.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of social media initiatives and testing activities.
- Stay informed about EU policies, DG EAC priorities, and developments within the European political landscape.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Digital Media, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in social media management, digital communication, or community management.
- Strong knowledge of major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and emerging channels.
- Experience with social media advertising tools and campaign optimisation.
- Excellent understanding of social media analytics and reporting methodologies.
- Ability to transform data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Experience in graphic design and audiovisual content creation is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Interest in European affairs and understanding of the EU institutional environment.
- Excellent command of English; knowledge of additional EU languages is an asset.
