The Space & Airborne Systems (SAS) organization within Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join the Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) team. LCE Systems Engineers are responsible for supporting depot integration of hardware and software, developing test plans and procedures, debugging, and assessing system functions and interfaces, and verifying system requirements in preparation for final customer sell‑off.
The Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) department plays a critical role in back-end sustainment and repair design, sustainment development, and transitioning systems through integration and test as programs move from production into warranty and long-term support. To maintain program performance, meet contractual obligations, and ensure system readiness, additional Systems Integration & Test engineering support is required. Test event support activity may require travel, which is not expected to exceed 20%. This position is an onsite role in El Segundo, California.
What You Will Do:
- Support Radar System Integration Laboratory (RSIL) and field/depot Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V) activities, including troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
- Perform system-level failure analyses using root‑cause and corrective‑action processes, advanced test equipment, and analytical techniques
- Evaluate system performance and compile results using tools such as MATLAB, SQL, and other analytics platforms
- Prepare and present clear technical reports and briefings for internal and external stakeholders, summarizing complex data into actionable insights.
- Manage engineering support for hardware testing, troubleshooting, sustainment, and depot returns
- Implement minor design updates informed by data trends, failure modes, and integration findings
- Maintain and update engineering specifications and drawings
- Coordinate technical discussions and tag‑ups across Program Management, Systems Engineering, and Chief Engineering teams.
- Resolve system-level technical issues in collaboration with cross-functional engineering groups
- Provide technical guidance to IPTLs and participate in team meetings, working groups, and interface discussions.
- Support process implementation, mock‑up hardware repairs, and sustainment activities
- Apply predictive analytics to anticipate failures, optimize maintenance, and improve lifecycle planning
- Develop Python-based scripts/tools to analyze system/test data, automate workflows, and deliver actionable engineering insights
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience system engineering to include System Integration, Verification and Validation (IV&V)
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Airborne Radar Systems
- Electrical test equipment, circuit, wiring, and electronic diagnostics tools: multimeters, oscilloscopes, tachometer, signal generator, etc.
- Read and integrate software routines with hardware
- Experience collecting and instrumenting large data sets, including using scripting or automation tools to support data acquisition and analysis.
- Interpret and synthesize operational or test data to support system performance assessments and continuous improvement.
- Microsoft Office, MATLAB, or Python, for data analysis and automation

The salary range for this role is 75,800 USD - 144,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
