Project Manager | Multifamily & Mixed-Use

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the firm’s Southern California team and lead multifamily and mixed-use projects. This is a hybrid position based in Long Beach, California.

Position Description

The Project Manager will lead projects from initial pursuit and proposal development through design, documentation, permitting, and construction administration. This person will oversee multiple assignments, coordinate internal teams and external consultants, and serve as a trusted point of contact for clients. The ideal candidate combines strong multifamily and mixed-use experience with a full-service understanding of architectural practice—including how to define scope, establish fees and budgets, assemble teams, and develop successful project proposals.

Responsibilities

• Lead multifamily and mixed-use projects through all phases of architectural service, from early planning and design through construction administration.

• Develop project proposals, including scope of work, fees, budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and consultant needs.

• Manage multiple projects or client accounts concurrently while maintaining clear priorities, milestones, and deliverables.

• Establish and monitor project budgets, schedules, work plans, and financial performance; identify risks and make timely adjustments.

• Serve as a primary client contact, guiding communication, addressing concerns, and maintaining strong, responsive relationships.

• Coordinate closely with project architects, designers, technical staff, and consultants to support integrated and successful project delivery.

• Lead regular project reviews to evaluate progress, resolve challenges, and maintain quality and accountability.

• Oversee consultant selection, contracting, coordination, and performance.

• Support project billing, invoicing, forecasting, and related financial administration.

• Provide clear direction, mentorship, and constructive feedback to project team members.

• Participate in client development, industry networking, and pursuit efforts that support new and repeat business.

Skills & Requirements

• 5–10 years of relevant professional experience, including project management responsibility within a full-service architecture firm.

• Demonstrated experience managing multifamily and mixed-use architectural projects.

• Proven experience preparing project proposals and defining scope, fees, budgets, schedules, staffing, and consultant requirements.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.

• Strong working knowledge of architectural project delivery, detailing, construction documentation, building codes, permitting, and construction administration.

• Proven ability to manage project financials, deadlines, competing priorities, and multiple stakeholder groups.

• A successful track record of leading internal teams and coordinating external consultants.

• Strong client-facing communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.

• Collaborative leadership skills and a genuine interest in mentoring and developing others.

• Proficiency with relevant architectural design, documentation, and project-management tools.
