Certified Athletic Trainer - Running Program Coordinator (Oakton College)

Overview

Join our growing RUSH Physical Therapy sports medicine team in a unique hybrid role that combines hands-on athletic training with community outreach and program development. This position will spend approximately 75% of time serving as the dedicated Athletic Trainer for Oakton College, providing injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and on-site sports medicine services for student-athletes. The remaining 25% of the role will focus on coordinating and growing our partnership with the Chicago area running community, supporting community running programs, sponsorship initiatives, event coordination, and strategic relationship management. This position is ideal for an athletic trainer who enjoys both direct patient care and the opportunity to expand community-based sports medicine programs. The role includes collaboration with physicians, coaches, runners, community partners, and rehabilitation professionals while helping strengthen Select Medical's presence within the Chicagoland running community. Responsibilities include athletic training coverage, injury tracking and documentation, program coordination, relationship management, marketing support, event participation, and development of sports medicine outreach initiatives.

Type of Employment: Full-timeSchedule: Weekdays/Weekends (Typical ATC hours)

Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000, annually, based on years of experience

Incentives: $2,500.00 Sign-on Bonus

Responsibilities

• Design and implement specific therapeutic programs for injured athletes’ rehabilitation
• Determine the need for and administer proper athletic training techniques before and during games/practices to decrease risk of injury (techniques can include taping, wrapping, bracing, proper hydration and minor wound care)
• Determine the effectiveness of athletic training/rehabilitative techniques and record change as indicated by athlete response within limits of specified plan of care
• Manage emergency incidents, coordinate EMS and acute care procedures including basic life support to reduce the impact on function of an injured athlete.
• Seek outreach opportunities and participate in events to promote the company (races, club teams, etc.)

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree
• National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA-BOC) Board of Certification
• CPR certification
• Applicable state license where required
• 2 Years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree
• Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
• Experience working with collegiate athletics, endurance athletes, or community sports programs preferred
