Description
Top Notch Logworks is looking for a dependable, motivated Log Construction Laborer to join our team in Gypsum, CO. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to learn the skills involved in custom log and timber construction.
You’ll work alongside experienced crew members on projects involving log structures, timber elements, decks, railings, and other custom wood construction. No one is expected to know everything on day one — we’re looking for someone who is willing to learn, follows directions, works safely, and takes pride in doing quality work.
Compensation & Benefits
- $20–$32 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Typical 8–10 hour day shifts
- Approximately 40 hours per week

What You’ll Do
- Assist experienced crew members with the fabrication and installation of log and timber structures.
- Help build and install decks, railings, stairs, and other custom wood components.
- Move and position materials and logs safely around the job site.
- Use hand and power tools as directed and learn proper tool selection and operation.
- Assist with job-site layout and preparation.
- Follow project plans, crew instructions, and established work procedures.
- Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area throughout the day.
- Load, unload, organize, and care for tools and materials.
- Work with the crew to complete projects efficiently and according to quality standards.
- Take direction from crew leads and communicate when questions or problems arise.
- Help protect customer property and maintain a professional job site.
- Take basic job-site photos and assist with other project documentation when needed.
- Learn new construction techniques and take on additional responsibilities as your skills develop.
What We’re Looking For
You do not need to be an expert in log construction to succeed in this position. We’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in learning a skilled trade.
- Reliable and willing to work a full-time schedule.
- Comfortable performing physically demanding work.
- Willingness to learn log, timber, and custom wood construction.
- Able to follow instructions and work safely around tools, equipment, and materials.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a crew.
- Positive attitude and professional approach to working with teammates and customers.
- Basic carpentry or construction experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to read basic construction plans or blueprints is a plus.
- Clean driving record and reliable transportation required.
- Spanish/English bilingual communication skills are a plus.
- References required.
The Work
This is an active construction position, not a desk job. Much of your day will be spent working with your crew at residential construction sites.
The position requires the ability to:
- Work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Lift and move heavy materials and logs.
- Use hand and power tools.
- Climb ladders and work at heights.
- Bend, kneel, reach, stand, and perform physical work for extended periods.
- Maintain focus and safe work practices throughout the workday.
- Travel to job sites, including occasional drives of approximately 1.5 hours each way.
