As an ST&S graduate, you’ll complete three rotations designed to give you breadth of experience across your chosen business area while also supporting you to build technical depth. From analysing data to influencing decision making, to building customer relationships and shaping deals, – this programme gives you the exposure and experience to start building a future in commercial business.

We’re recruiting for graduates to join us on the Analytics, Commercial or Trading track for an August 2027 start.
Trading development track: Joining our energy trading team, you’ll be part of managing our trades on all of the major energy commodity exchanges and the OTC market as well as our daily exposure. You'll gain experience across a diverse range of trading activities, developing an understanding of both physical and paper trading markets.
Over the course of the 3-year graduate scheme, you'll complete rotations that equip you with the skills and knowledge to become a successful trader at the end of the programme. Rotations may include market analytics, physical operations or working as a trading analyst on one of our trading benches.
Analytics development track: Analysts have the opportunity to directly influence the bottom line as part of a highly commercial and skilled team. Working in the fast-paced world of our trading floors and with access to vast amounts of data and information, you’ll focus on driving continued growth in trading profits and acting as a subject matter expert on energy market fundamentals.
Trading Analytics & Insight (TA&I) includes a range of specialisms including:
Short term market analytics seeks to identify and understand fundamental drivers that influence market prices up to two years forward. Analysts are often co-located on the trading desks, and employ models of supply and demand, physical storage, weather, shipping and power generation, coupled with real-time data feeds, to provide actionable commercial insights to the front-line trading teams.
Structuring works closely with the trading and origination teams to structure and value complex financial and physical transactions. The modelling of key drivers of financial value, deal scenario analysis and designing tailored customer solutions are a strong focus for the team.
Commercial development track: Every year, bp invests billions of dollars searching for new sources of energy, supplying our customers with the fuels they need. You’ll help to ensure we make the best use of our investment. We want you to be in the best position to propose new and creative ways to maximize value. The commercial development track will help you to develop strong commercial acumen which is supported by the different rotations you will undertake. You may find yourself placed in a team that sets strategy, tracks the market, or manages foreign exchange, or you may be a trading operator responsible for the logistical success of a trading deal. Other rotations include marketing & origination, structured products and chartering.

Our traders and commercial teams operate across global desks in London, the US, and Asia, engaging customers across Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and beyond. Equally important is initiative and intellectual curiosity. Markets do not come with instruction manuals. We look for individuals who actively try to understand what is moving prices, who form hypotheses, and who develop the instinct to sense where opportunity may emerge before it is obvious.
A trading environment also requires the confidence to take risk, paired with accountability and discipline. Decisions are often made under time pressure and imperfect information, and resilience matters. We do not optimise for blemish‑less CVs. Some of our strongest performers are those who have faced setbacks, learned from failure, and demonstrated the grit to push forward with even greater determination.
To be eligible for the ST&S graduate programme you should:
be currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any discipline which could range from Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Arts to STEM
be in your final year of study, graduating by July 2027 or recently graduated
on track to achieve a cumulative GPA equivalent to Second Upper Honours or above
be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident with the rights to work in Singapore
