Description
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the day-to-day preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, daily equipment cleaning tasks and building maintenance and repair of the facility in accordance with GFL safety and compliance standards. The Maintenance Mechanic will follow preventative maintenance schedules in accordance with the OEM guidelines and use the company-provided maintenance software (Eptura)

Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily preventative maintenance on all types of recycling sorting equipment while following the provided maintenance schedules.
Complete all the required paperwork associated with all preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
Assist team in completing large breakdown repairs and schedule repairs found on preventative maintenance inspection with Lead Hand Mechanic.
Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to company safety procedures, and follow established techniques to perform Key Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining parts inventory levels by recording and charging out parts used on company provided maintenance software (Hippo)
Use elevated work platforms, scissor lifts, forklifts and other related equipment to complete tasks.
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Perform proper rigging and lifting techniques to perform various repair/breakdown tasks
Perform daily cleaning tasks as needed on sorting equipment.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
Specific experience with preventative maintenance and diagnostics on conveyors, electronics, and electronic motors.
Knowledge of basic welding and fabricating.
Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on machinery.
Able to work at heights and able to operate scissor lifts and elevated work platforms
Competency using various computer systems to record and document repairs and diagnose problems.
Able to perform tasks on own and communicate relevant issues to maintenance lead hand.
Effective problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines
