The Maintenance Planner in Edmonton, AB is responsible for planning, scheduling, and optimizing maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and plant efficiency. This role owns the CMMS program, maintenance planning processes, KPI reporting, inventory management, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting plant operations and reliability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Own and continuously improve the CMMS program, maintenance planning processes, and work order management.
Manage maintenance inventory, critical spare parts, and min/max stock levels to support plant operations.
Coordinate preventive, predictive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities.
Schedule maintenance work in partnership with maintenance and production teams.
Ensure required parts, tools, contractors, and equipment are available before work execution.
Analyze maintenance KPIs, conduct root cause investigations, and identify improvement opportunities.
Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, records, procedures, and equipment history.
Provide technical support to contractors and verify completed work quality.
Support reliability improvement projects and proactive maintenance strategies.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with strong reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
Experience in maintenance planning, inventory control, manufacturing operations, or related industrial environments.
Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) training or progress toward certification is preferred
Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance planning, scheduling, and reporting.
Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.
Experience managing spare parts inventory and maintenance work orders.
Ability to analyze KPIs, root causes, and maintenance performance metrics.
Strong organizational, documentation, and scheduling skills.
Experience working with SAP or similar enterprise systems for purchasing and contractor services.
Experience in manufacturing, trades, industrial maintenance, or reliability-focused environments.
A trade certificate is a strong asset
Working Conditions
Primarily plant-based manufacturing environment with extensive walking and observation activities.
Exposure to machinery, industrial equipment, noise, and material handling activities.
Required use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, high-visibility clothing, gloves, and safety footwear.
Regular physical activity including walking, inspecting, documenting, and supporting maintenance execution.
Commitment to health, safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement standards.
The anticipated schedule is Monday-Friday 630am-3pm.
