Job Description Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining portable fire extinguishers.
Work Location: 172 Cross Rd, Waterford, CT 06385
Roles and Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Wait on any incoming portable fire extinguisher customers.
- Inspection and Testing: Conduct routine inspections and tests of portable fire extinguishers to ensure proper functioning. Identify and rectify any issues or malfunctions promptly.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot problems in all portable fire extinguishers brought into the shop.
- Compliance: Ensure all portable fire extinguishers comply with relevant fire codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and repairs. Generate reports as needed for clients, authorities, or internal use.
- Customer Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to explain the status of their portable fire extinguishers, address concerns, and provide recommendations for improvements.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in portable fire extinguishers is preferred.
- Relevant experience in inspecting and maintaining portable fire extinguishers.
- Knowledge of local fire codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience servicing and maintaining HVAC equipment/systems, small engine repair, firefighting equipment, work as a mechanic, electrician, or previous experience with hydraulics.
- Familiarity with portable fire extinguisher equipment is a plus, but we will train!

Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.)
