Summary
Security Guard will maintain a safe and secure environment for members and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. Primary duties include visually monitoring members entering/exiting our branch lobbies for any unusual and/or threatening behavior, patrolling the premises at regular intervals, and responding to any distress calls and alarms. Report all incidents to appropriate internal personnel or law enforcement agencies.
Essential Functions
- Patrolling the premises regularly to ensure the interior & exterior of the branch appears safe for members and employees. Greeting members and implementing visual security checks on members/visitors, upon entry/exit. Security equipment may be used. Performing scheduled and random checks of designated areas throughout each assigned branch to check for any security breaches or suspect behavior.
- Monitoring surveillance cameras and responding to alarms within the premises. Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities (i.e., interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures, etc.). Working with law enforcement in the case of suspected or reported criminal activity.
- Respond to security calls, whether in a branch location or the Administrative offices to offer help, assistance or surveillance of individuals.
- Controls traffic by directing drivers into and out of parking lots.

- Make members or visitors aware of rules that must be adhered to and communicated effectively.
- Contact the relevant authorities if a crime is committed or an accident occurs.
- Report to supervisors on a regular basis.
- Remove trespassers or unwanted individuals from the property.
- Record any suspicious activities to the Branch Manager or other manager-in-charge.
- Level II or Level III Security Guard certification will be required. Certification classes will be provided if Security Guard certification is not possessed.
Requirements
Education: High school graduate or equivalent
Experience: Prior experience as a certified Level II or III Security Guard preferred but not required. A qualification in security training and/or basic first aid skills is preferred.
Equipment Requirement: Security Guard must provide and own a licensed firearm in order to obtain Level III Security certification.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., stand up & walk or “patrol” an area for up to & more than 2 hours on a regular, ongoing basis, with a 15-minute ‘seating break’ after 2 hours. Must be able to use security tools, such as a taser, stun gun &/or handcuffs & be able to demonstrate defensive physical movement to defend oneself, in the event of an altercation. Must be able to communicate effectively with members, supervisors & co-workers. Lifting, surveillance skills, ability to handle uncertainty, make good judgments & be dependable. Must also demonstrate professional emotional control, integrity & safety conscience/alertness. Level III Security Guards must have knowledge on how to properly maintain and use a firearm in accordance with FFCU Policy and certification requirements.
