POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Safely support or operate assigned production machinery, equipment, controls, and material handling systems within completed training and qualification.
- Assist with material staging, loading, unloading, work-in-process movement, production flow, cleanup, waste removal, and 5S activities.
- Follow production schedules, operator instructions, safety procedures, quality requirements, and supervisor or lead direction.
- Perform routine visual inspections, dimensional checks, material verification, and production quality checks as trained.
- Assist with machine startups, shutdowns, changeovers, setup, calibration checks, and production run preparation.
- Support routine equipment and facility maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, inspections, filter changes, minor adjustments, basic repairs, and component replacement assistance as trained and authorized.
- Assist Maintenance personnel with preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, troubleshooting, parts handling, work-area preparation, and return-to-service activities within assigned training and authorization.
- Perform minor facility modifications and construction-related activities such as installing guards, barriers, shelving, signage, workstations, supports, and other non-structural improvements using hand and power tools as trained and authorized.
- Support facility upkeep, including minor patching, painting, assembly, installation, repair, and general plant improvement work that does not require a licensed trade.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment abnormalities, facility damage, leaks, guarding concerns, or repair needs.
- Accurately record production output, material usage, downtime, inspection activity, maintenance support, and completed work as required.
- Maintain the stockroom in a clean, organized, and secure condition, including proper labeling, storage, and location control for parts, tools, consumables, and supplies.
- Receive, stock, issue, and return inventory items; count inventory and support cycle counts, physical inventory, and reconciliation of stock discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate low inventory, damaged items, missing parts, or replenishment needs to the appropriate team members.
- Maintain accurate stockroom and inventory records, including item quantities, storage locations, receipts, issues, and returns.
- Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Facilities, Quality, Safety, and Supervision to support equipment readiness and plant priorities.
- Develop proficiency across utility functions and at least one primary work center; participate in cross-training as assigned.
- Operate forklifts, cranes, hoists, aerial lifts, or other equipment only after required training and qualification.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Able to perform manual operations requiring adept dexterity
- Familiarity with operation of power tools, forklift and overhead crane
- Able to meet physical demands of the job: standing for extended periods, lifting loads up to 50 pounds, squat, bend or kneel while wearing a tool belt
- Comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions
- Adhere to all OSHA and Swinerton safety practices and procedures
Preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, maintenance, facilities, construction, carpentry, mechanical work, equipment operation, or wood products.
- Technical training or certifications related to maintenance, construction, forklift, crane, aerial lift, first aid, or industrial safety.
- Experience supporting preventative maintenance, facility improvements, equipment installation, or production startup activities.
